Palworld Breeding Guide: Plan the Pair, Check the Patch, Save the Result

To breed Pals, assign a male and a female to an unlocked Breeding Farm, put Cake in its chest, collect the resulting egg, and hatch it in an Egg Incubator. Choose your target species before choosing the parents.

Before a long run, record your game version, the parents' passive skills and equipped attacks, then check the first offspring. Use the downloadable planner below to keep that setup and its result together.

Download your breeding planner

Download the editable offline breeding planner

Open the HTML file in your browser. Fill it in and select Save filled planner to download a new HTML copy containing your entries. Reopen that copy to continue editing offline. There is no account, upload, or spreadsheet software requirement. Refreshing an unsaved tab does not preserve your edits.

The planner contains these editable sections:

This is a manual planning sheet, not a species predictor. Copy a combination from a calculator matching your game version, then check it in your own game. An expected result and an observed result have separate fields so a failed cross does not quietly become the basis for the next one.

Start with a cake supply you can maintain

A standard Cake requires 5 Flour, 8 Red Berries, 7 Milk, 8 Eggs and 2 Honey. Cook it in a Cooking Pot with a Kindling-capable Pal, then put the finished Cake in the Breeding Farm's chest.

For a self-supplied setup, use Chikipi for Eggs, Mozzarina for Milk and Beegarde for Honey at a Ranch, alongside your crop and Flour production. Buying Eggs and Milk is another option when your income supports repeated purchases. Keep the Ranch producers if purchases would exhaust your funds.

Enter the number of standard Cakes you plan to cook in the planner. Its budget multiplies each recipe quantity by that number. For example, 10 standard Cakes require 50 Flour, 80 Red Berries, 70 Milk, 80 Eggs and 20 Honey. This is ingredient arithmetic, not a promise of successful offspring. Specialist cakes have different recipes and are outside that calculation.

Dated rule comparison: what changed in v1.0

The following changes are dated 10 July 2026, the publication date of the v1.0 release changelog. The date belongs to the rule change, not merely to this article's review.

RuleOlder terminology or adviceDocumented version and change dateWhat to do with your plan
Active-skill inheritanceOlder advice tries to control inheritance by keeping the parents' learned-move lists small.v1.0 — 10 July 2026: inherited active skills are randomly selected from the parents' three equipped active-skill slots.Record equipped attacks for each parent. Do not substitute the whole learned-move list or assume an equipped attack is guaranteed to transfer.
Nighttime passive nameOlder instructions call the passive Nocturnal.v1.0 — 10 July 2026: Nocturnal was renamed Insomnia. This is a name change, not evidence that nighttime breeding was newly introduced. When transferring an older plan, update the passive's name and check the actual parent's traits.

A specific stale instruction remains in Shockbyte's Palworld Breeding Guide: The Ultimate 1.0 Breakdown, dated 20 July 2026, under Mutations and Active Skills. It says “Keeping breeding parents at level 1” and explains the advice through a smaller learned-move selection pool. That explanation does not match the equipped-slot rule documented in the earlier v1.0 changelog.

For that rule, inspect the loadout rather than treating level 1 as an inheritance requirement. Species-exclusive restrictions still need checking. The comparison identifies documented v1.0 changes; it does not establish that every later patch left every breeding rule untouched.

Fix the stalled stage

Cake cooking, egg production and incubation are separate jobs. A faster kitchen cannot clear a full Breeding Farm, and a faster incubator cannot make the parents lay sooner.

A Breeding Farm holds 20 eggs. Collect them before that limit stops production. If unhatched eggs are accumulating, address incubation capacity before adding more parents.

Grintale's Partner Skill can give an extra egg when you collect one while it is in your party. Unlock the required saddle before using that collection routine. Keep collection helpers separate from changes intended to accelerate the breeding timer.

Generic Work Speed does not accelerate breeding. Improving your cooking workforce can help the Cake supply, while breeding-specific effects such as Philanthropist address a different stage. Insomnia prevents the nighttime sleep interruption.

Check the first child before repeating the pair

Compare the observed species with your planned result. Then inspect the child's passives and attacks rather than calling the run successful just because an egg hatched.

Keep intermediate offspring that advance the target line. If a child improves the next pairing, record which parent it replaces and why. Keep unwanted traits visible in the planner instead of losing them inside a species-only breeding chart.

Save the filled sheet after that decision. Your next batch should repeat a checked setup, with its game version and observed result attached.
